One story of how puzzle rings were created starts in ancient times when a jealous Turkish Nobleman wanted to find a way to be sure that his wife was faithful to him. He asked a jeweler to create a wedding ring for his wife in the form of a puzzle. He stipulated that the ring, or puzzle ring, should fall apart when removed. Since the wife would not know the solution to the puzzle ring, she would be caught upon the husband's return.
